Not everyone will understand your cancer recovery… and that’s okay.
Cancer changes you in ways that are invisible to most people. They may see your hair growing back, your treatment ending, or your smile returning and assume you’re “back to normal.”
But they don’t see the anxiety before every follow-up appointment.
❤️The fatigue that still lingers.
❤️The grief for the person you used to be.
❤️Or the courage it takes to rebuild your life one small step at a time.
Not everyone will understand your journey because they haven’t walked it. You don’t need to spend your energy trying to convince others how hard it has been. Instead, stay focused on your own progress.
Celebrate the walk you took today.
The healthy meal you prepared. The boundary you set. The moment you chose hope over fear. The day you looked in the mirror with a little more kindness.
Healing isn’t about being perfect. It’s about continuing to move forward, even when progress feels slow.
Recovery is measured in moments, not milestones. Be patient with yourself. Be gentle with yourself. And remember; you don’t have to become the person you were before cancer.
You are becoming someone new. Someone wiser and stronger, who understands the value of every ordinary day.
Progress over perfection. Always.
Love, Michelle
