Grief & Loss Counselling

$150/hour

Grief and loss can affect every part of a person’s life, often extending far beyond the loss of a loved one. At Second Life Counselling, grief and loss counselling provides a compassionate and supportive space to process emotional pain, endings, and significant life changes. This may include bereavement, illness, cancer, relationship breakdown, identity loss, career change, or anticipatory grief experienced before a major loss occurs. Together, we work gently through the emotions that accompany grief, helping you make sense of your experience, honour what has been lost, and slowly reconnect with yourself and your future.

Life Transitions

$150/hour

Major life changes can leave us feeling uncertain, disconnected, or unsure of who we are becoming. At Second Life Counselling, life transitions counselling supports women navigating periods of change such as divorce, career change, burnout, illness recovery, post-treatment identity shifts, ageing, empty nest, grief, or personal reinvention. These experiences can challenge our sense of identity, purpose, and direction, even when they also create opportunities for growth. Through compassionate and supportive counselling, we work together to process change, rebuild confidence, and help you move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and self-understanding.

Cancer Survivorship

$150/hour

Cancer survivorship can be a complex and deeply personal chapter, often marked by both relief and uncertainty. At Second Life Counselling, cancer survivorship counselling supports women who are adjusting to life after diagnosis and treatment, navigating ongoing physical changes, emotional impacts, and shifts in identity. While treatment may have ended, the experience of cancer often continues to shape how you see yourself and move through the world. Through gentle, compassionate counselling, we create space to process what you’ve been through, and support you in rebuilding confidence, meaning, and direction in this new stage of life.

Journalling workshops

Group journalling workshops at Second Life Counselling offer a gentle, supportive space for women to slow down, reflect, and give voice to experiences that are often difficult to express in everyday life. Through guided writing prompts and shared reflection, these workshops use journalling as a therapeutic tool to support emotional processing, self-understanding, and healing. Writing can help us make sense of complex feelings, reduce internal overwhelm, and create distance from painful thoughts so they feel more manageable. In a group setting, there is also the added benefit of connection – hearing others’ words can reduce feelings of isolation and remind us that we are not alone in what we are carrying. There is no pressure to write “well” or share anything beyond what feels comfortable; instead, the focus is on honesty, presence, and self-compassion. Over time, journalling can help you notice patterns, reclaim your voice, and gently reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been lost or quietened through life’s challenges.
