Hello, I’m Michelle Aziz, founder of Second Life Counselling. I am a professional counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association, specialising in women’s health, cancer recovery, trauma, grief and loss, and life transitions.
My path to counselling is deeply personal. In 2024, I went through breast cancer treatment myself; navigating chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, immunotherapy, fear, uncertainty, and the emotional aftermath that so often continues long after treatment ends. That experience changed me profoundly. It challenged my identity, my priorities, and the way I viewed life.
During the hardest moments of my treatment, I made a promise to myself: if I made it through, I would use my experience to help other women feel less alone.
Second Life Counselling was born from that promise. I understand what it feels like to sit with fear, grief, exhaustion, overwhelm, and the sense that life has changed forever. I also understand the courage it takes to rebuild yourself after trauma, illness, loss, or major life change.
My approach to counselling is compassionate, grounded, and person-centred. I provide a safe, supportive space where women can explore their experiences openly, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with greater clarity, strength, and hope.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent more than 20 years working professionally in the corporate and property sectors. Alongside my counselling qualifications, I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and Publishing, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Human Rights and Development. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of both personal and professional pressures, as well as the importance of community, meaning, and emotional wellbeing.
At Second Life Counselling, I support women through:
- Cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery
- Anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional burnout
- Trauma and identity shifts
- Grief and loss
- Life transitions and rediscovering purupose
- Rebuilding confidence and self worth
- Finding meaning after difficult experiences
I believe healing is not about becoming who you were before. Sometimes it is about creating a second life; one built with deeper self-awareness, resilience, authenticity, and compassion for yourself. No matter how lost or overwhelmed you may feel right now, healing and growth are possible – and I am here to help you find your way forward.
Love, Michelle
