Little reminder

Soon after cancer treatment, I felt this overwhelming pressure to make up for lost time. I thought I had to rush back into life; back into work, study, goals, plans, purpose. As though I needed to prove that I was “back to normal” as quickly as possible. But healing doesn’t work like that.

What I’ve realised is that healing takes time. Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, spiritually. Your body may finish treatment long before your nervous system, heart and mind catch up. There is no prize for rushing your recovery.

I’m learning now that recovery is not about racing to reclaim who you were before. It’s about giving yourself permission to become who you are now, in your own time.

Love, Michelle
