Second Life Counselling
Professional counselling for women navigating cancer, trauma, grief and major life transitions. In-person, online and phone appointments are available.
Welcome!
I’m Michelle, a counsellor, writer, and breast cancer survivor. My journey into counselling began with my own diagnosis – a moment that changed everything. While the physical side of treatment was challenging, it was the emotional impact and loss of identity that shaped me most.
I found myself asking, “Who am I now?” and “How do I move forward?” That experience led me to counselling, driven by a deep desire to support other women navigating life after cancer, trauma, and major life transitions.
I understand what it’s like to rebuild your life when you can’t go back to who you once were. Through Second Life Counselling, I offer a safe, compassionate space where women can be heard, reconnect with themselves, and create a new path forward with clarity and purpose.

What to expect
- All counselling sessions are 60 minutes and are available in-person, online or by phone.
- Your first session is an opportunity to discuss what’s been happening, explore your goals, and determine whether we’re a good fit to work together. From there, we’ll develop an approach that supports your unique circumstances and move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
- Some clients attend for a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others choose ongoing support over a longer period. Together, we’ll regularly review your progress and ensure counselling continues to meet your needs.

“I believe that all women carry an extraordinary strength – the quiet, enduring kind that rebuilds, heals, and rises even in life’s hardest moments.”

Reviews
Cancer recovery
Working with Michelle was one of the most grounding experiences of my life. After my cancer treatment, I felt completely lost and didn’t recognise myself anymore. Michelle created a space where I felt safe to open up, and slowly, I began to rebuild my confidence and sense of self. I can’t recommend her enough.

Grief therapy
Michelle has a way of making you feel truly seen and heard without judgement. I came to her carrying so much grief and didn’t know how to process it. Through our sessions, I was able to understand my emotions and find a sense of peace again. Her compassion and insight made all the difference.

Journalling workshop
I was hesitant about counselling at first, but Michelle’s approach is so gentle and supportive that I felt comfortable straight away. The group journalling sessions helped me express things I didn’t even realise I was holding onto. I’ve come away feeling lighter, clearer, and more hopeful about my future.
